Clitoral Hood Reduction

Clitoral Hood Reduction

The Procedure

On the day of your appointment, you are going to meet Dr. Vitasna for discussion or consultation. You will be informed of the details of the procedure. You may ask Dr. Vitasna for further inquiries.

You will be asked about your expectations of the surgery. If you have any allergies or any condition that would not make you a good candidate for the procedure, this will be considered as well. If you are in doubt, you will be advised to postpone the surgery.

After the consultation and you have agreed to undergo the procedure, you will be asked to read and sign consent forms. The Nurses and some staff will discuss with you the postoperative care instructions. Blood tests may be necessary as ordered by Dr. Vitasna.

Eating and drinking is prohibited 6 hours prior to the surgery to avoid the risk of aspirating during or after surgery. This instruction must be taken seriously, to avoid complications.

The procedure is performed in our operating room for approximately 1 hour under intravenous (IV) sedation. During the procedure, local anesthesia is injected in the surgical area, and Dr. Vitasna will perform the surgery to remove the excessive clitoral hood and then suture the surgical wound while controlling and stop the bleeding with small dissolvable sutures. The suturing is done alternatively with 2 or 3 layers, to prevent post-operative bleeding.

After the procedure, you will be monitored in the recovery room. When you are conscious with no abnormal bleeding and be able to urinate, the postoperative care instructions will be reviewed. Dr. Vitasna will then allow you to go home.
